HISTORIC CITY OF VIGAN

The intact Spanish colonial and Asian architecture of Vigan City is well-known. With its cobblestone lanes, malecón, horse-drawn carriages, and rustic houses, Calle Crisologo dominates the Mestizo area. As a result, it makes sense that our city is one of the world's seven wonders.

In addition, when the holiday season approaches, Bigueos celebrate Christmas in the City in a variety of ways. Last November 27, 2020, the Heritage City of Vigan officially kicked off the Christmas season with the simultaneous lighting of a bright 37-foot Christmas Tree in front of Vigan City Hall and the Christmas Village at Vigan Conservation Complex.
Our family enjoys walking in the streets of Calle Crisologo with the fresh and windy air, which gives it a more festive and relaxing feel, going to church while counting down to Christmas, which we call "Simbang Gabi," and finally, admiring the colorful Christmas decorations in the city with our family as we begin to feel the holidays. Of course, even if we did all of those things, we still had to follow the health rules, which is a must. Despite all the challenges posed by the pandemic, the Heritage City continues to celebrate Christmas with the annual Artes Ita Paskua of the City Government of Vigan, which took place from December 7 to 17, 2020, with a new normal set-up in which the majority of the events were conducted online and the rest were limited to ensure that the City COVID-19 Task Force's Minimum Health Standards were met.

RECALLING THIS SEMESTER

I learned a lot about HTML in the second quarter. I learned a lot about it, such as how to use basic tags, how to use hyperlinks, and how to use photographs, among other things. Although software developer is not my preferred career path, I am happy for the opportunity to learn the fundamentals and get experience that will benefit me in the future. HTML is a type of computer language that is used to create web pages that can be viewed on the internet, and it is something that everyone should be familiar with. HTML components, which are the building blocks of all websites, are also included. HTML enables for the embedding of pictures and objects, as well as the creation of interactive forms. It enables the creation of structured documents by defining the structural semantics of text elements including as headings, paragraphs, lists, links, quotations, and so on.

I had some difficulties; it was difficult for me to comprehend how to apply HTML tags, and it was also difficult to apply photographs. Other than that, I think I did well because I was able to complete the other tasks effectively.

I contacted my classmates for help because some of the actions weren't clear to me, and I'm thankful that they helped me out. I also looked for HTML videos on the internet to learn more about it.

Moving on, I will continue to do my best to study my lessons, and if I don't grasp something completely, I'll simply ask my instructor for help or look it up online to learn more about it.

VIGAN CITY'S NEW NORM CELEBRATIONS

On the 25th of January each year, the Vigan City Fiesta is held in honor of the city's patron saint, St. Paul the Apostle. Street dance, carnivals, culinary festivals, and arts and crafts draw both locals and tourists, adding to the city's appeal as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For many of us, the planning and celebration of numerous festivals in our city is a time of year that brings us delight. However, due of the two-year-old COVID-19 outbreak, preparations for a festival were canceled, which I believe was a wise move because it is better to be protected from the virus than to jeopardize our health for a festival.

We all just behaved like we're back to normal after naming the epidemic "The New Normal," but we're still aware that the COVID-19 is still around. COVID cases are still on the rise in our town, and this is enough cause to indicate that putting on the fiesta is risky in our opinion. I read some of the stories and discovered that this year's Vigan City Fiesta could go on, but with very severe rules, with which I agree and disagree. I agree because there are at least some safe precautions in place to prevent the virus from spreading, but I also disagree because there is still a chance that COVID cases will rise in our community as a result of our fiesta.

A lot of challenges will be faced, especially by our neighbors, who may not follow the safety standards and produce more problems in our town. Implementing the fiesta will be a task and a risk, but we are hopeful that it will be effective and that the people are safe.

ANOTHER ERA

On New Year's Eve, every student makes resolutions. In essence, a New Year's resolution is established when a person wishes to make amends for the mistakes they've committed in the previous year or improve their organization skills. Students have set their goals for their academics and for a brighter future in particular. In the face of a sea of other activities, a good student always learns from his or her mistakes from the current or previous year, and on the eve of the New Year, he or she vows to himself to correct all of his or her mistakes.

Students frequently delay their studies, waste time, and engage in frivolous hobbies that have a negative impact on their studies. It is really important for a student to set a goal every year and work hard every day to achieve it. Because dreaming and manifesting dreams is akin to achievement, every student must dream of doing something productive. I am also a student, and as a student, I have set resolutions in the past, but like everyone else, I break them. This time, though, I'm going to stick to my resolutions and make sure that I make the necessary changes in my life. I've made a list of a few goals that I'd like to achieve this year and keep to them. The most important thing is to have a plan in place. I've never had a habit of organizing my work, therefore my schoolwork and projects are always unfinished.

As a result, I intend to be more systematic and organized this year in order to complete my work on time and not leave any of the tasks I've been given pending. This time, I'm determined to keep my resolutions and work on improving my grades so that I can be a better student for myself, my family, and society.

CHRISTMAS AMIDST THE PANDEMIC

This is most likely the first time in modern history that we are encouraged to celebrate the season of Christmas in its purest form, in its simplicity. Amid all of this, we've been thinking about how to enjoy Christmas this year with only family members who live in the same place. We're thinking about wearing masks, keeping social distance in check, and washing our hands frequently. For our mutual security and safety, we are being prevented from visiting one another. This year, we won't be able to enjoy the typical Christmas cheer and merrymaking.

COVID, on the other hand, should not detract from our Christmas celebrations! This Season, let us share more hope, peace, joy, and love!

This is where I am reminded of our Savior's birth. Simply said, it's a Christmas story. Only his mother and father were present when our Lord and Savior was born in a manger. A shepherd, a few animals, and the three magi were among his guests. It serves as a heartfelt reminder of the genuine meaning of the holiday season. We've all had a rough year this year, but we're still holding on to hope. God is with us, has always been with us, and will always be with us, despite all the chaos and dread that the pandemic has brought. The world's light is Jesus!

May our hearts continue to be open to the infant Jesus, our lives continue to reflect Christ's presence, and our homes continue to be a beacon of God's peace. We will all be able to go through this crisis together if we have a lot of faith, hope, and love.

EMPHASIZING CHILDREN'S RIGHTS THROUGH THE PANDEMIC

Preventive measures are the most effective method to keep youngsters safe. They aim to do everything they can to avoid as many infections as possible all across the world. It's all about getting it all done. Children can benefit from the same complete set of treatments that adults talk about all the time.

Securing clean hands for kids by washing them with soap and water, singing the songs so that they get enough bubbles, and making sure their hands are very clean. Alternatively, you can rub your skin with alcohol. Make sure they sneeze into their elbow when it comes to respiratory etiquette. My siblings will cough and sneeze into their elbow while they are coughing and sneezing. However, as children grow older, they are healthy behaviors to instill in them. Checking to see if they're the right age to wear a mask and if they're following local guidelines. Make sure the mask is over your ears, over your children's noses and mouths, and that they don't touch the outside of their masks with clean hands. Check to see if they have a clean pair of hands. They should also sanitize their hands after removing it. As a big brother, make sure you answer your sibling’s questions as best you can.

There's a lot of misinformation out there, and it's frightening. So, spend time to talk to them, answer their concerns, soothe their fears, and ensure that you provide them with accurate information. Physical separation is, without a doubt, the most critical thing that anyone can do. Maintain a safe distance from individuals outside of your close family. This is the most effective approach to keep COVID-19 from spreading.
